Make way for the "New Kid in Town"! Introducing Ark Adventures. Yes, we are new - but we are far from being inexperienced. We have on staff some of the finest, well experienced guides. Our front office staff are experts on logistics and hospitality. Ark Adventures is a coordinated effort with Tanzanian and American ownership. The business partners - Jonas Kadeghe is a Tanzanian with a background in the hospitality business, owning a bed and breakfast for years. Mike McMillan is a Californian born and raised with a background of 38 years in the constuction business. For 19 years they have known each other through Christian ministry work together. Although they had talked for years about starting a tour company, it was not until after COVID brought tourism to a screeching halt, ending Jonas' bed and breakfast business, that the talk was converted into action. Mike sold all his US possessions and is now a resident of Tanzania. With the local knowledge and hospitality background of Jonas combined with the logistic expertise of Mike they have blended perfectly to create a "Quality First" tourism company - Ark Adventures. Although Mike is still an American citizen, the company has only a Tanzania office and all profits remain in Tanzania, helping the local economy. Both Mike and Jonas continue their ministry work, which includes building churches in remote villages and bringing the Word of God to the people. Price Quotes & Booking Information
Do not think that you need to have all travel details in place before you contact our Tour Specialist. Just a general idea of what type of adventure you would like is enough and we can work together from there. We can go over options and create your itinerary according to your desires and budget. We will then give you a firm price quote. For mountain treks and camping safaris we will request a 25% deposit. For lodge/tented camp safaris and Zanzibar holidays we request a 50% deposit. For any domestic flights (such as fly-in safaris to to Zanzibar) that we book for you, we require a 100% payment for that portion of your trip. There is no deadline for making the deposit but we will not reserve any accommodations or flights before we have a deposit. The remainder of the payment is not due until your arrival in Tanzania. We accept direct bank wire transfers into our USD Tanzanian bank account. We also accept bank cards but as common in East Africa there will be a 4% bank charge added to bank card payments. When paying your final balance in person, we also accept cash, USD preferred.
Postponements & Cancellations We have no interest in making money off of cancellations or postponements. But we cannot lose money of them either. If you need to postpone a trip, 100% of the recoverable amount can be applied to future travel through Ark Adventures within a 2 year period from the starting date of the original itinerary. By recoverable amount, we mean that all funds that we can recover from third parties such as accommodations and airline tickets may be used for future travel. However in some cases the accommodations and airlines may have policies which will not allow full refund and that will reduce your available funds applied for your future trip.
In the event of complete cancellations, we will refund all recoverable amounts less $100/person and less any money transfer fees that may be needed to get the money back to you.
If only a portion of your group postpones/cancels the trip amount will need to be recalculated according the the new group size. For instance if you are booking a 4 person safari and one person drops out, the price for the remaining three will be based on our price for a 3 person safari.
